3. How soon will I make an income? How much can I expect to earn?

First year production is extremely unpredictable. On average, it takes four to six months for a new real estate agent to close their first transaction and receive a commission. First year top-producing "rookies" have earned incomes as much as $25,000 and some more than $40,000. Most second-year incomes range between $35,000 and $60,000.

4. How long does it take to get my license?

That depends on you and how fast you want to proceed. We have had agents complete the on-line educational requirements in as little as two weeks and be fully licensed within 30 days. Or, you can stretch it out for 60-90 days if you are transitioning from another career.  See Texas Real Estate Commission licensing requirements.

5. What's it mean to be an Independent Contractor?

Basically, you are your own boss. You set your own hours, business development practices, pursuit of additional education, account for income/expenses and payment of taxes to the Internal Revenue Service, etc. You are starting a career, opening your own business. Approaching a real estate career as just a job is a formula for failure. However, Coldwell Banker First Equity, REALTORS® will be there to support your business in every manner possible.
